Knowledge Area Team: networking@quest-consultants.com Infrastructure Routing and switching is still the heart of any network infrastructure. Because most networks are built on Cisco infrastructure using Cisco IOS Software, Quest has chosen to specialize in Cisco technologies for network solutions. By far, the majority of networks being deployed today use a Cisco-based infrastructure. As such, and with our advanced knowledge of Microsoft server products, Quest is in a unique position to provide a high level of expertise, from the wire all the way up to application-specific issues. Quality of Service (QoS) With the ongoing growth of networking services, and a steadily increasing user base, ensuring quality of service has also become exponentially more important. This is true on networks of any size or scope: information technology has become a business-critical service, and its correct functioning may not be left to chance. As such, the need to ensure correct network performance and ongoing service availability, and a properly secured environment, have also taken center stage. Of course, this level of network design requires a high level of knowledge of advanced networking concepts, a deep awareness of current software and hardware, and extensive experience in technical design and implementation best practices. Remote Access The workforce is becoming increasingly more mobile, with a growing number of workers that want to access the company network from home or the road. Of course, there are many ways to solve this problem, depending on the specific functional requirements: access can be arranged to email, corporate fileservers, and internal applications via dialup connections, ADSL, VPN over the Internet, or pure web-based access. Of course, security and performance both become crucial issues in any remote access design -- all of which can be addressed by implementing the correct software, equipment, and configuration. Baselining/ Assessments A correct understanding of the current network configuration is a crucial part of improving availability of services. This is especially important in the context of an upcoming projects, or if performance-related concerns exist. A proper baseline analysis not only presents a structured, clear and accurate outline of the network infrastructure (including the services and traffic patterns), but also should be the starting point for new designs, installations or other alterations to the network. And presenting an independent and comprehensive overview requires an extensive knowledge of techniques, protocols, products and standards. Quest Value Added Quest engineers all hold the Cisco Certified Network Professional as a minimum level of qualification, and are all certified Instructors according to the Cisco standards. This ensures that network-related knowledge is always up-to-date, accurate and of high quality. Where required, Quest is capable of updating your knowledge, either in conjunction with Cisco certified training partners or through in-company workshops. Whether you need a proper design of your local network, the rollout of a wide area network, or support for solving network related problems, Quest consultants will provide the level service that is expected within business-critical environments. |
